Craig Turpin has had a lifelong passion for photography, shooting his first roll of film at age 10 on a Vivitar point-and-shoot camera his parents bought him to capture the mysterious and charming beauty of northern Japan, where he grew up. By his late teens, Craig was active in his high school photography club honing his creative eye on a hand-me-down Pentax ME Super. 

He left the land of the Rising Sun for Kent State University in 1999 where he studied TV and film production, also interning with the Northeast Ohio PBS affiliate before stepping into a producer role upon graduation. 

A few years later, Craig took his talents to New York City, landing as a producer and editor at NBC Universal with a dream office in Rockefeller Center. After an exciting stint in the big city, Craig traded skyscrapers for 14’ers when he took a winter assignment in Aspen with Plum TV in 2012. 

In 2015, he transitioned from professional motion picture work to photojournalism using his diverse background to cover every aspect of day-to-day life in the Roaring Fork Valley as the chief photographer for the Aspen Daily News and contributor to media outlets ranging from Aspen Magazine and The Denver Post to ForbesLife and People Magazine. 

Most recently, Craig parted ways with the paper to pursue freelance photography projects full-time throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and around the world.
